"Business is everything. It's work, it's war, it's politics, it's our health. Business is angry and ugly, it's vulnerable and it speaks for all of us. I wanted to make an album that pins you to the wall from start to finish," says Essex-based duo The Meffs about their new album, Business.

Following a whiplash year of touring alongside heavyweights like The Sex Pistols and The Undertones plus selling out headline shows across the UK and Europe, Lily Hopkins (vocals/guitar) and Lewis Copsey (drums/backing vocals) still found time to track 11 new songs with producer Dan Weller. Opening with the 63-second scorcher "Dreamin’", The Meffs set a relentless pace, doubling down on tracks like "What A Nightmare" and "Where Did It All Go Wrong". The main takeaway? We’re all fucked, but we can go down fighting.

After those first couple of songs, Business cracks on with an onslaught of pummeling drums, loud riffs, and razor-sharp social commentary. "Fight" crams a staggering amount of heat into just 32 seconds, while the title track sounds even scuzzier than the rest of the record. Cuts like "Disorder (Wake Up)" and "So Modern (Keep Up)" keep your heart racing throughout.

With only guitar and drums at their disposal, you might expect the duo to run out of sonic wiggle room. Yet across Business, The Meffs find plenty of ways to spice things up, driving straight through to the self-deprecating closer, "Like Gravity."
