Northeast Regional will release its new album, In the Desert, on April 10, 2026, via Tor Johnson Records. The Richmond, Virginia-based band has also shared the single “Alt Bounce,” written and sung by guitarist Mike Morris.
“‘Alt Bounce’ lives up to its name. It’s a bouncy number that took shape while paying tribute to Bully or The Breeders,” says guitarist/vocalist Jeff Byers. “This song was written and sung by our guitarist, Mike. I can’t put words in his mouth, but I’m under the impression that the song is about spending time in the desert on a family vacation and sharing special moments with said family.”
The album was developed following the band’s 2024 Fitness EP, as members Jeff Byers (guitar/vocals), Mike Morris (guitar/vocals), James Doubek (guitar), Tyler Worley (bass), and Zach Nelson (drums) continued to evolve their collaborative approach. The 11-song record reflects a period shaped by personal life events and ongoing creative work together.
In the Desert incorporates elements of post-hardcore and guitar-driven rock, with material written collectively over regular sessions. The album title and themes draw from reflections on time, memory, and change.
