Upcoming Releases
Never hardcore enough for the punk scene, too destructive for the ska circle, and hailing from a small city no one has ever given a damn about, Offend Your Friends (members of The Color Morale, Dead Horses, Devils Teeth) has always done things their way. Almost Didn't Make It is no exception. Is it more polished or poppier than their earlier efforts? Maybe, but the songs are arguably better. The vocals are acerbic, bouncing between the literal and allegorical. The guitars are big, the bass gets funky, and the sax ties a melodic thread throughout. Hell, there's less ska than before, but there's still some ska—some upbeat and some dark. A lot of life has been lived since George W. Bush invaded Iraq and the band was a bunch of disgruntled teenagers drinking cheap beers in a smoke-filled basement and cranking out gritty ska-core tunes. But time doesn't always have to be the enemy. They Almost Didn't Make It. But they made it. Tap the keg. Offend Your Friends is back with a musical vengeance.
