Earlier this year, pop-punk mainstays Amber Pacific made a long-awaited return with All In, their first new album in over a decade. The record sees the band firing on all cylinders again, channeling the energy and emotion that made them a staple of the mid-2000s scene, packed with twelve hook-laden, nostalgia-tinged anthems. Today, we’re stoked to premiere the brand new music/lyric video for “The Hero or The Villain.”
“The Hero or The Villain is another absolute anthem for us, heavily influenced by Rise Against," says guitarist/vocalist Will Nutter. "The chorus is massive and stacked with vocal on top of vocal on top of vocal. It reminds me of the ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ you hear in the background of Bad Religion songs or Sum 41.”
“There’s a sense of urgency to this song and it truly lends itself to the title All In," adds Nutter. "In the end, we’re proud of what we’ve accomplished. We want to keep the fire lit as long as we can and will continue writing as long as our fans continue to listen.”
It’s been twenty years since Amber Pacific released their debut The Possibility & The Promise, launching them from MySpace buzz to one of pop-punk’s defining names of the mid-00s. Their 2007 follow-up Truth in Sincerity broke into the Billboard 200, solidifying their reputation at the genre’s peak. says
Fast forward to today, and All In finds the band coming full circle. Not just to join the wave of pop-punk reunions, but to make a record that stands shoulder to shoulder with their best work. It’s a collection that doubles down on everything fans love about the band: big hooks, bigger choruses, and honest, emotional storytelling.
Frontman Matt Young sums it up perfectly:
“This is a new chapter for our band and we feel like we're on the edge of something incredible after spending months in Nashville with Sean Rogers and his team. This one is made for the AP faithful, whilst also welcoming new fans to the world of Amber Pacific.”
