Massachusetts’ Little Low and Unseemlier are releasing a split single on October 3 ahead of some exciting shows, including Unseemlier’s first tour, and both bands appearing at FEST 22 in Gainesville, Florida. Both songs were recorded by Kyle Paradis of Oh The Humanity! and mastered by Zach Weeks at God City.

Little Low’s “Hems” showcases the pop punk side of the band. According to the band, it’s about the regret of letting a friendship fall apart and the frustration of watching others move forward while you’re left starting over again.

In May, Little Low released its Sunshine Guilt album via Sell The Heart Records (U.S.), Thousand Island Records (Canada), and Waterslide Records (Japan). With its introspective lyrics, twinkly and melodic guitars, and heart-on-sleeve delivery, the band draw inevitable comparisons to emo pioneers like The Get Up Kids, Hey Mercedes, and Jimmy Eat World. Simply put, Little Low deliver a cathartic and hook-filled sound that is equally reverent of its forefathers while bringing to the mix some magic that is unmistakably its own.

"I would quit this band if I wasn’t financially invested" by Unseemlier was written about watching helplessly as you grow away from someone. Taken away by the tides, someone you no longer recognize, you reflect on how to fix things or if it’s even possible.

Unseemlier released their debut album, I Have a Screw Loose, Somewhere, in June via Sell The Heart Records. Clocking in at 23 minutes, the album is a heavy emo/soft punk document written in the aftermath of frontman Mike Assatly’s return to Massachusetts after nearly a decade in California.

Founded in the fall of 2023, Unseemlier were born of emo nostalgia and a shared passion for raw, unapologetic music. Childhood friends Mike Assatly, Chris Pina, and Kevin Merriam quickly wrote their first tape and soon after its release recruited Andrea Neuenfeldt for bass and vocal duties. The album quickly rips through themes of addiction and loss, growing up in a suburban bubble, and battling to look at the world in a positive light.
