Originally formed in 1995 on Long Island, New York, Overthrow gained recognition with their split with Voice of Reason on Stillborn Records, followed by 1999 full-length album React released through Triple Crown Records. The hardcore band would come to an end in 2001 with a few live performances over the years. Following a reunion show in December 2022 with Strife and Shutdown, Overthrow felt like they still had something to say and would soon begin writing what would become their upcoming full-length, Setting the Price.

Set for release on October 3rd, Setting the Price features nine tracks that move between bounce, aggression, and thought provoking lyrics.

Vocalist Chris Ruffini shares:

“The new album is a reflection of both personal and collective growth—from struggle, resilience, and a need to move forward with clarity and strength. At its core, it’s about overcoming adversity and carving out a stronger, more intentional path after setbacks. We touch on themes of personal loss—acknowledging pain without being consumed by it—and how those experiences shaped us into who we are now. There’s a sense of learning from the past, not just surviving it.

The record also continues our commitment to addressing real-world issues, with a sociopolitical lens on the opioid crisis and its devastating impact. It’s a mix of confrontation and reflection—raw, honest, and driven by purpose.”

Single “Tribute,” out today is an uplifting and energetic song signified by punchy guitars and lyrics celebrating the lives and friendships of those who have passed. It follows singles “The Calling” and “Anywhere But Here” which Overthrow shared in summer 2024. You can stream all three tracks HERE.

Setting the Price was recorded with Chris Fasulo of East Coast Recordings and mastered by Dave Roman at 4130 Mastering.
