We are happy to premiere the video for ‘Cary Grant,’ the new single by What Makes Sense, a new-ish poppunk band out of Poughkeepsie, New York that got together in 2019. If you are a fan of early ‘00s pop punk and genre stalwarts like New Found Glory, The Wonder Years, The Story So Far and Four Years Strong, these guys are right up your alley. They were off to a good start with the release of the 5-song ‘Fear and Loathing in the Northeast’ EP, but then you know.... Covid. Ever since the pandemic hit, they have been biding their time, releasing a single here and there. The latest of which is called ‘Cary Grant’:

“Cary Grant once famously said, “Everyone Wants to be Cary Grant, even I want to be Cary Grant.” Which really hit home with the message we were trying to convey. You’re not always going to wake up and feel like today is your day; you’re not always going to have an answer for why you can’t get yourself out of bed, but the most important thing is to try. Try and be the best version of yourself that you can be for those who love and support you and, most importantly, for yourself. We need to learn to love ourselves on our worst days as much as we do on our best days. It’s ok to not be ok; it’s ok to try. It’s ok to accept yourself just the way you are.”
“As for the video, we decided to go with a more DIY look than our previous video for Groundhog Day. We wanted it to look as inviting as possible while also showing off who we are. It shows off our awkwardness, our sense of humor, us in general. It fit well with the message of the song as well because we aren’t always glamorous.”
