ExactlyNo’s third full-length album, 2SAD/2SERIOUS, officially arrives tomorrow via Cardinal Sun Records, but you can stream it in full today.

According to vocalist/guitarist Ted Anderson, “2SAD/2SERIOUS is the biggest and most ambitious record we’ve made so far. It’s a focused collection of songs that captures who we are as a band and what it’s like living in these weird, dark times. We explored a lot of new ground, both sonically and thematically, and the result is both the best depiction of who we are as a band and a true reflection of where the world is right now.”

Despite being just a two-piece, the Minneapolis-based band creates a massive wall of sound that perfectly complements their infectious hooks and high-energy live performances. Since 2016, Anderson and Nick Larsen have built their own distinct brand of riff-heavy rock, combining thunderous drums, driving guitars, and memorable melodies.

The band hit their songwriting stride before entering the studio, arriving with an abundance of material and ideas that allowed for even more experimentation during the recording process. Once again, Soul Asylum bassist Jeremy Tappero handled production and mixing duties. Longtime mastering engineer Bruce Templeton (Hey Mercedes, Dillinger Four) praised the album, saying, “The record’s clear artistic vision, detailed production, and immediately engaging songs represent a major milestone for the band.”

ExactlyNo is currently planning summer dates for both a listening party and an official release show, with announcements expected in the coming weeks.
