Newly formed indie rock duo Long A release their 2nd single “It’s Hard To Be A Person” and announce their forthcoming debut LP It’s About To Start out July 11th, 2025 on Industry Houseplant Records. The single was mixed by Chris Walla (Death Cab For Cutie, Ra Ra Riot, Pinegrove). This follows their debut single, “Dissolve” featuring Tanya Donelly (Belly, Breeders, Throwing Muses), which was released last month.

In 2023, Long A’s Richard Jankovich received the tragic news that his dear friend and former bandmate Paul Searing had unexpectedly passed away. The news was devastating, coming at a time of much turmoil in Jankovich’s life who had already been struggling with the stress of family issues, health problems and isolation from a recent relocation. A few days later, his flight was cancelled due to a mechanical issue and he missed the funeral. Devastated, stuck in his car in the airport parking lot, Jankovich broke down and wrote the first few lyrics of “It’s Hard To Be A Person.” Long A fleshed out the song as an ode to people who are struggling with both the day-to-day as well as the major life moments. Built around a pitch shifted sample of a forgotten demo, the track builds into digital power-pop ecstasy with a massive group sing along featuring 15 friends. On a lark, they sent it to esteemed indie rock producer and former Death Cab For Cutie member Chris Walla who liked it and mixed it. The raw emotion of the song shines in the pristine mix by Walla and the urgency of the song is felt on every level.

Across the rest of the forthcoming LP, collaborations abound with the likes of Australian indie singer Ben Lee, electro-pop songstress and in-demand guitarist Cecilia Della Peruti (aka Gothic Tropic), Boston alt-rock legend Tanya Donelly (Belly, The Breeders) and Tom Bright, a young UK-based singer-songwriter with co-signs from Mick Jones (The Clash) and Matt Johnson (The The). The band was assisted in the recording and mixing of the rest of the album by long-time friend, Dan Long (Local Natives, Spiral Stairs.) The album was mastered by Al Isler and Daniel Rowland.
