In an attempt to remind everyone what pop-punk sounded like back in the late 90ies, South Jersey’s Only On Weekends released ‘Another Wasted Night’. Produced by Jesse Cannon (Saves The Day, The Menzingers), the band’s self-released album comes with 12 songs that wants to harken back to the days of Lookout! Records and Drive-Thru.

Saying it's not exactly novel stuff is a bit of an understatement and I’m not the biggest fan of the vocals, which are too shrill to my liking. But when they get it right on a song like ‘Voices’ and ‘Always Greener’, it's enjoyable. Big melodies, gang vocals, playful rhythms... it's all present and accountend for and will probably be considered a treat by fans of Bowling For Soup.

When the time came to think about a score, I figured why bother seeing as they had gone and done the work for me on the opening track. And who am I to disagree?
