With summer rapidly approaching, it is time to get started on your playlist to accompany all your BBQs, parties and road trips. While you’re at it, don’t forget to throw some Onesie in there. This Brooklyn-based trio just released their debut album, “Leos Consume”, and it comes with eleven bouncy power-pop tunes that don’t take themselves too seriously and which are a helluva lot of fun to listen to.

Led by songsmith Ben Haberland, Onesie’s debut is a collection of songs he wrote over the past eight or nine years. Turns out he knows his way around a good hook and has apparently spent a fair amount of time listening to the likes of Big Star, Pavement and Fountains Of Wayne among others. The vocals might be a tad bit on the monotonous side after a while, but tracks like opening track “Karaoke Killers” and singles “Daytime King” and “Ballad Of The Boomerang” guarantee and a good time and come with tongue-in-cheek lyrics that talk about what it’s like to grow up, something that can be a lot less fun than listening to “Leos Consume”.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
