Holy Chewbacca! Everybody’s favorite geek rockers are back with a new album of pure, unadulterated pop-punk bliss!

‘Go back to the nineties when shit was cool’ is one of the first things you hear on “Rockingham”. While it might not always be a good idea to go back to the nineties… I mean, did anyone actually listen to that new Ugly Kid Joe album… this sure is one hell of a comeback!

It’s not hard to figure out what most of the songs on here are about. “At The Con” was written after a performance at last year’s DragonCon, “Ghostbusters III” is about how there will never be a third movie (don’t even get me started about the remake!) and “We Opened For Weezer” is … well, you can figure that one out on your own. By the way, that last song is better than anything Weezer has written in quite a few years and that’s coming from a guy who enjoyed the hell out of “Everything Will Be Alright In The End”.

Witty song titles and lyrics aside, these songs are incredibly catchy and energetic. More album highlights come in the form of “The Girl Who Listened To Rush”, “I’m The Droid (That You’re Looking For)” (comprised entirely of Star Wars quotes and recorded at the Skywalker Ranch) and closing track “Close Your Eyes And Dream”.

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting this album to be this good, but this is definitely way more “The Force Awakens” than “The Phantom Menace”!

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
