Lilac Daze just inked a deal with Black Numbers and to celebrate the occasion, this Frederick, Maryland trio has now released the 6-song EP “Sedated”. On it they sound anything but sedated, cranking up the guitars and drums in order to end up with a sound that resides in the wasteland between punk and 90s alternative rock like Weezer and Superchunk.

Cuts like “Fountain And Medicine” and “Kathleen” are upbeat and catchy as fuck with the dual male/female vocals of Evan and Patti working like a charm. And then there’s songs like “Life Scout” and “Porcelain God”, both of which are heavier and darker with Matt Henry kicking the shit out of his drum kit. I’ve tried deciding which side of Lilac Daze I like best but I gave up… both are just a helluva lot of fun to listen to.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
