At the moment there are a ton of bands trying to breathe new life into the sounds of the 90ies. Feel free to add South Carolina’s Ivadell to that ever-growing list. Albeit with some additional post-rock textures.

“Maybe Tomorrow”, the band’s debut full-length, comes with ten songs worth of loud/quiet guitar dynamics, booming drums and understated whispers. Think Hum or Mew if you will. But not quite as good. These guys have the sound and atmosphere down pat, but the songs on “Maybe Tomorrow” lack a feel of excitement. Take opening track “Temporary Sound” for example. It comes with an intro that grabs your attention, but then seems content to just kinda plod along. Maybe it’s just the overall slower pace of “Maybe Tomorrow”, but this collection of songs failed to grab my attention.

There’s definitely something there, but it’s not all coming out yet. Maybe tomorrow?

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
