Imadesthismistake is a musical endeavour that sprouted from the brain of Kyle Campol. Originally it was just him making cassette tapes on his own. Later it turned more into a full-fledged band or Campol inviting some friends to play along. One thing that remained are the quirky indiepop/rock songs and Campol’s unique singing style. Well, singing is giving the guy more credit than he deserves. It’s more aggrevated spoken word than anything else.

I don’t know if this comparison makes sense but if Atom And His Package minus the Package would cover Bright Eyes songs, I imagine it would sound something like this. It takes a lot of imagination to get there and while this will be a hit or miss album for most people, I found it quite pleasing after a couple of spins, especially during songs like opener “New York”, the straight-forward rocker that is “Billboards” or the menacing “Winter In New Bedford”.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
