Following a bunch of EPs and splits, Detroit’s Great Reversals have now unleashed their debut full-length. “Mere Mortals” comes with eleven tunes of the hardcore variety that the band recorded with the help of Andy Nelson and harkens back to bands like Bane and Trial (whose vocalist Greg Bennick contributes guest vocals here).

Expect plenty of blunt force trauma-inducing riffs, drums that will pummel your ass and the kind of barked vocals that make you think that hey, maybe someone else is having an even shittier day than you. During the album’s second half the songs start to blend together some, but these dudes are doing a solid enough job and I’m sure that they’ll get enough windmills going at a live show to power a small town.
