Belgium’s Eastwood has been around for 10 years in some shape, way or form but they didn’t really get serious about it until 2015. And even then, it took them another five years to finally release a full-length. Featuring both new songs and tracks that they have already had in their arsenal for a while, this one is appropriately titled ‘The Old New’.

That’s all fine and dandy Tom, but what do they sound like? Well, think gruff melodic punk rock with the occasional lapse into post-hardcore territory. Like some hybrid between Hot Water Music, Make Do And Mend, Quicksand and Rival Schools. Drums get pounded, riffs swirl around each other and then threaten to crash into one another only to change course at the last second while the vocals soar over it all, equal parts gruff and melodic. In other words, what’s not to like? Check out opener ‘Safe and Sound’, ‘Mind’ and the gang vocal enhanced ‘Speedboat’ for some of the album’s highlights.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
