After having been blown away by Austin’s Die Spitz at a festival over the Summer, I thought I knew what I was getting into with their debut album, ‘Something To Consume.’ Yet once again Ava Schrobilgen, Chloe De St. Aubin, Ellie Livingston and Kate Halter managed to surprise me.

Channeling 90’s alt-rock a la Babes In Toyland or Hole one second, adding a country vibe the next before cranking out one of this year’s nastiest riffs on ‘Throw Yourself To The Sword’ and then blasting through ‘Riding With My Girls’ at full speed, Die Spitz always keep you on your toes while also managing to comment on navigating modern life as 20-somethings.

Whatever road they choose to barrel down, the end result is entirely satisfying every single time on their Will Yip-produced debut, out now on Third Man Records.

Something To Consume tracklist:

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
