On their first new album in 6 years, Austin’s American Sharks want us to know that they are Not Dead Yet. And it has to be said: they make a very convincing case with nine strong arguments. Take some stoner, some metal, a royal dollop of punk and top it off with tons of fuzzed up guitars… it’s a mix that would be labeled aggressive, if it weren’t so damn catchy. Think Mutoid Man meets Valient Thorr. Really digging the title track, the poppy 'Flowers For The Dead' and the pretty self-explanatory 'Bang Yer Head'.

And because you can never have riffs, they have also invited Mike Derks (GWAR), Zach Blair (Rise Against), Kyle Shutt (The Sword), David Sullivan (Red Fang), and Leo Lydon (Rickshaw Billie’s Burger Patrol) to add some extra-sizzling solos to their tasty recipe. Not Dead Yet is a fun romp that doesn’t outweigh its welcome or crumble under the relentless onslaught of pummeling drums and frenzied riffs.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
