Out of Oakland, CA comes Acid Fast, a band that features members of Big Kids and who are not afraid to let their freak flag fly. Armed with rumbling bass lines, propulsive drumming, badass riffs and both male and female vocals, they occupied a studio with producer Jack Shirley (Joyce Manor, Whirr, Punch, State Faults) and walked out of there with “Rabid Moon”. The eleven songs that make up their debut full-length are delightfully messy, decidedly loud and surprisingly melodic.

On the one hand they pay tribute to the East Bay by throwing around some Jawbreaker influences but they’ll just as well sneak in some off-kilter riffs or left-of-center rhythms that bring back memories of bands like Superchunk and The Breeders. Can we simply settle on the fact that “Rabid Moon” rocks?

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
