Ready Or Not Punk Rock Theory
7.5

Ready Or Not comes with a very cool if not quite believable premise. Which is putting it mildly. Young bride Grace (Samara Weaving) is about to get married to the love of her life (Mark O’Brien), but in order to be accepted by her rich and rather eccentric soon-to-be family, she has to participate in a time-honored tradition. A game night of sorts. Where you are just fine if you draw any card from the deck. Really, most of the times they end up playing a game of checkers. Unless you draw the hide and seek card. Which leads to an entirely different kind of night. Take a wild gues which card Grace draws! Instead of playing a releaxing night, she now has to try and survive the night while everyone hunts her, armed to the teeth with axes, guns and crossbows. Turns out her in-laws (including Andie MacDowell) made a deal with an evil force a long time ago and in order to survive, they have to make the occasional human sacrifice.

This could have easily turned into something ridiculous, but directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have no problem turning this movie into a rollercoaster ride that is all thrills and giggles. Weaving is awesome at kicking ass and taking names and following her roles in other gore-filled flicks like ‘The Babysitter’ and ‘Mayhem’, she shows yet again that she is right at home in the horror-comedy genre.
