Austin, TX’s favourite part-time punk and ex-hippie Gus Baldwin is back with a brand-new single titled “Runnin’ After Me.” The track offers another taste of his forthcoming 5-song EP, Lingered Out, set to arrive on December 11th, 2026 via Permanent Teeth.

Baldwin has been quietly building buzz for a while as a solo artist, but picked up the pace with the release of his debut self-titled LP with his band, Gus Baldwin & The Sketch, in 2025. That record garnered critical acclaim across the board—earning him KUTX’s Artist of The Month in March, a front cover story and Best Punk Band nomination in the Austin Chronicle, feature coverage in Rolling Stone, and tour slots supporting both Jack White (who personally handpicked Gus for his Austin show) and Bass Drum of Death.

While a follow-up album is already slated for an early 2027 release, Lingered Out leans into Baldwin’s more psychedelic side without losing an ounce of the hyperspeed Power Pop energy he’s known for. Think Television’s Marquee Moon played at 78 RPM, or Ty Segall and Thee Oh Sees jacked up on way too much caffeine. Effortlessly blending ’80s power-pop, ’60s psych, ’70s proto-punk, and ’90s indie rock, the new material showcases his knack for making retro influences sound completely fresh.

Written, performed, and recorded by Gus on analog tape at Hollywood Studios between January and June 2026, the EP was mixed by Gus alongside Steven Arif Mashaka, with mastering handled by Joey Oaxaca in Los Angeles.
