Up until now, Insert Coin’s biggest achievement seems to be that one of their songs got featured in a commercial for an energy drink. Not a bad way to make people take notice of your band but it was only 15 seconds long. Now though, there’s a full-length in the form of ‘Way Out’ and it comes with way more than 15 seconds of the band’s skatepunk meets pop-punk.

Lyrically, they tackle everything from the death of a friend (‘Sonora’) and fake news (‘Donald’) to dealing with depression (‘Semikolon’), while staying a bit more steadfast when it comes to the music itself. Think of a cross between Rise Against’s more recent work and the poppier side of Millencolin and you are getting the picture. It’s not very original and lacks a bit of bite, but there’s no denying that these songs are enjoyable enough.
