Fuzz-rock heavy-hitters, Stove, have announced their sophomore album, Favorite Friend, due out October 31st from Exploding In Sound Records.

Initially the solo project of Ovlov guitarist/vocalist, Steve Hartlett, Stove has grown into a full-fledged band with the addition of drummer/vocalist Jordyn Blakely, bassist Alex Molini, and guitarist Mike Hammond. Hartlett isn't one to slow down with 's Favorite Friend arriving hot on the heels of Ovlov's critically acclaimed second LP (which earned praise from NPR, The Fader, Pitchfork, Stereogum, and more), but much of Stove's bountiful creativity can be chalked up to the uncommon cohesion of its lineup. This record defines the band's identity with each member's contributions becoming absolutely vital. The album was written and recorded during a tumultuous time with Hartlett and Blakely having both recently lost loved ones. Much of 's Favorite Friend' grapples with grief and the sometimes harsh realities of time passing, but despite this 's Favorite Friend is not a bleak album. Instead, its creation became a refuge for the members of Stove to unpack life's painful moments and find comfort in the bond between friends making art together.
