In 2024, Hedge made a huge introduction to the punk scene with the release of their outstanding debut album titled Better Days. The Western Mass trio, that includes Christopher Chaisson formerly of The Young Leaves, take cues from their fellow compatriots Dinosaur Jr. and The Lemonheads while adding a little more punk flare in the vein of Husker Du and early Blink-182. Most of their songs barely hit the two-minute mark and explode with melodies. Hedge is following up Better Days with a new six-song EP titled Freeze Frame High Five — building on what made Better Days so charming while taking new swings. Look no further than their new single, "Hey Dude", that is out now.

"''Hey Dude' is about the unique intricacies of growing up and how they shape later life. For some, it’s cultural or based in tradition; but for me, it was my dad introducing me to Dinosaur Jr. and me declaring them as my permanent full-time favorite band at the age of 8. It’s about appreciating their existence and their continued willingness to rock, thus serving as a reminder to continue rocking despite being “older, greyer, larger”. I also mention other elder local favorites, Buffalo Tom and The Lemonheads, for good measure " - Christopher Chaisson (guitar & vocals).

On their upcoming EP, Freeze Frame High Five, Hedge sticks to the golden rule of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” blasting through five originals and a Guided By Voices cover in under ten minutes. Lead single “Hey Dude” is songwriter Christopher Chaisson’s ode to Dinosaur Jr., his favorite band since age eight, reflecting on his lifelong obsession with distortion and melody thanks to a dad who cranked Boston-area college radio at an early age. Freeze Frame High Five captures Hedge at their most immediate and exciting, proving that urgency, volume, and infectiously catchy choruses still beat polish and pretense every time.
