The anonymous band in old-man masks that is Chart Attack, celebrates ’90s music with a new album featuring Kevin Martin of Candlebox, Jaret Reddick of Bowling for Soup and Jason Aalon Butler of letlive.

Who’s behind the masks? For the millions who discovered Chart Attack through their unexpected take on Slipknot’s “Duality,” the first question quickly gave way to another: what else have these guys got? With more than 15 million views and 250,000 streams of “Duality” alone, the anonymous band in old-man masks turned internet curiosity into a growing family of fans. Now, Chart Attack presents Age Against the Machine, arriving October 30, 2026. The self-produced, independently released album reimagines ’90s hits in the band’s own style, with guest appearances from three of their musical heroes. For Chart Attack, the masks carry a message: everyone is here for the music. “We wear the masks because it’s not about us,” the band says.

“We’re fans first. We’re not trying to be rock stars or act like we’re cooler than you. We’re here to celebrate the music we love, sing along with you and have a great time together. And if a bunch of guys in old-man masks can remind you that it’s never too late to follow your dreams, even better.” That invitation resonated. Fans became “grandkids,” and online enthusiasm opened doors to appearances at Punk in the Park, opening for the Descendents and performing at NOFX’s pop-up merch event. What started with people sharing a video became a community showing up to sing together. Age Against the Machine brings that spirit into the studio. Chart Attack recorded and produced the album themselves before handing it to Grammy-winning mixer Jason Livermore at the Blasting Room, known for his work with Rise Against, NOFX and other defining names in punk. The title captures the band’s belief in music made by people. At a time when AI-generated music raises questions about the future of creativity, Chart Attack celebrates the human side of making a record: playing instruments, trying ideas, taking chances and putting something of yourself into every song.

The album pays homage to ’90s favorites with arrangements shaped by the band’s personality. That enthusiasm also inspired Chart Attack to reach out to artists they had long admired. Candlebox’s Kevin Martin lends his unmistakable voice to Alice in Chains’ “Man in the Box.” His place in grunge history, his personal connection to Layne Staley and the band’s love of his singing made him a meaningful collaborator for a song they wanted to honor. Bowling for Soup’s Jaret Reddick joins Chart Attack on Blind Melon’s “No Rain.” The band admires Reddick as much for his relationship with his audience as for his music. His humor, generosity and commitment to his fans embody the welcoming spirit Chart Attack hopes to share with its own community. For Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the Name,” Chart Attack invited Jason Aalon Butler of letlive. to bring his explosive vocal presence to an unexpected reggae arrangement. Butler delivered a performance that carries the song’s intensity into a different groove. “We reached out as fans,” the band says. “These are people whose music means something to us. Getting to make a record with them is the kind of thing you dream about.”
