Today, we are premiering the new single by Brooklyn, New York-based emo punks Awful Din.  ‘GTFO My Basement’ is taken off the band’s upcoming album ANTI BODY, which will be out January 28 via We’re Trying Records. The album was recorded and mixed at Studio G with Jeff Verner and Ross Colombo, and mastered by Jon Markson.

“(It is) about one of the worst Christmases in recent history,” says the band. “A night of drinking and friendly revelry ends with an explosive fight in the basement, so loud we worry we might have the cops called on us. It’s awkward; it’s honest; it’s catchy, and it represents a very specific type of volatile relationship—one most people who have ever been young should recognize.”

Over the last decade, Awful Din have performed everywhere from Brooklyn basements to French-Canadian bars, delivering a crunchy, emo-inspired melodic punk sound. Guitarists Kat and Aaron have been writing music together since they were, like, actually children, connected by a mutual love of bands like Saves The Day and Texas Is The Reason. The band officially formed in 2014 with the addition of a rhythm section, and Awful Din established themselves as mainstays of the New York DIY scene.

With a handful of EPs under their belt and their debut LP Only Constantly in 2022, they have continued to evolve their beer-soaked sonic confessionals. Bittersweet and introspective yet deceptively hopeful, Awful Din is a band that pays tribute to its influences while maintaining their own unique sound.

The band celebrates the release of ANTI BODY with an LP release show at Purgatory in Brooklyn, New York, on January 31.
