"Fool's Gold" is the new single from Chicago's TIME THIEVES, ahead of their new EP 'If You Survive', scheduled to release October 3rd, 2025.  The song addresses the irony and opposite outcomes to basic expectations; overtly negative consequences for well-intentioned actions. The lyric "something simple always seems so hard to find" sums up the tracks theme. "Fool's Gold" will release digitally on August 26th, 2025.

TIME THIEVES are a guitar driven power-pop quartet formed in Chicago in 2015.  Jonathan Pool and original drummer Mike Oberlin had for many years discussed forming a band based on power-pop bands they loved.  Having both played in many punk bands around the Chicago scene over the years, this project became an exercise in focusing on melody and the craft of song while still retaining the energy and emotion of their punk roots.

With the addition of Annie Saunders, Tim Reynolds, and Mustafa Daka, the band has a shared history of multiple decade’s worth of midwestern punk in one band that is decidedly not punk.  Previous (and current) bands from these DIY lifers include: Sass Dragons, This is My Fist!, Ambition Mission, Brickfight, Hospital Job, Horrible Things, The Brokedowns, Smoking Popes and many more.

A culmination of four lifetime’s worth of experience, TIME THIEVES love of music performance and detailed focus on songcraft is signed, sealed and delivered into one perfectly crafted 25 minute set of bombastic energy that destroys the crowd, doesn't apologize for it, and then hustles their gear offstage well before the next band even has their hi-hat stand put together.
