Philadephia's Remember Sports shared a new video for their latest single, an anxious ballad about avoidance called "Materialistic." The song finds vocalist Carmen Perry working her way through forgiveness while the video recontextualizes its meaning with digitized VHS footage taken by her parents in the early-mid 90s.
Perry about the video:
"I found some old VHS tapes at my dad’s house, cleaned the mold out, and got them digitized. It’s a lot of footage my parents took when I was a baby, but also some really cool shots of New York in 1993, and commercials from between segments of the local news. I wanted to use it to make a music video as a way of preserving the footage and recontextualizing the song to be about the weight our collective memories hold, turning past into the present and vice versa. All footage by Maria Newman and Richard Perry."
