Atlanta punk band New Junk City today shares “Stay the Same,” a bittersweet reflection on what remains when a relationship changes. The song is the third and final preview of the band’s forthcoming fourth full-length album, Where Could I Go?, arriving November 6 via Lauren Records.

“Stay the Same” looks at the space between letting go and continuing to care for someone who has become part of your life. Looking back on a decade together, the song moves through memories of shared beds and shared plans, along with promises to remain family even after everything else has fallen apart.

“If love begins with a feeling, what remains when the object of that love is gone?” the band says of the song.

The song also gives Where Could I Go? its title. In the refrain, the phrase takes on a new meaning: “where could I go?” becomes less a question of place than a recognition that some forms of love persist even when the relationship around them changes.

Across its 12 tracks, New Junk City examines what it means to build a life rooted in love, particularly when love alone cannot provide an easy answer. Written over the course of approximately two years, the album explores how love can exist without a clear object, how to make room for someone else’s grief, the compromises and sacrifices demanded by work, and how to accept personal shortcomings and failures without allowing them to harden into resentment.

The album was recorded at Standard Electric with longtime New Junk City collaborator Damon Moon and produced by Tyler Bisson. Where Could I Go? finds the band turning inward without losing the urgency and directness that have defined their music throughout the past decade.
