Newly formed indie rock band Long A released their debut single “Dissolve” featuring Tanya Donelly (Belly, Breeders, Throwing Muses) on Industry Houseplant Records.

The explosive anthem shows the band at their most raw, both musically and emotionally. The song explores the feeling that we are all just watching as the world is falling apart before our eyes, which seems especially relevant in today’s climate. The doom-and-gloom of Jankovich’s vocals (“Watch it all dissolve and come apart”) is countered, even saved, by the hopeful lines sweetly sung by Tanya Donelly (“Love is all around when you need it most.”) Musically, they merge crunchy, melodic guitars played in unison with crashing, hooky drums, accompanied by synth stacks, vocal layers and manipulated samples from unreleased recordings.

The genesis of Long A occurred while Richard Jankovich and Albert Kurniawan were touring with their previous band, Big Mother Gig. Their 2021 LP, Gusto, garnered critical acclaim from Stereogum, SPIN, BrooklynVegan and NPR, leading to a placement on ABC's The Rookie, airplay on SiriusXM, and inclusion in editorial playlists on Spotify, Apple and Amazon Music. Subsequently, the four-piece band was booked for a US tour supporting Black Joe Lewis. However, just weeks before the tour, two band members exited, prompting Jankovich and Kurniawan to adapt their set into a "Power Duo" format, utilizing a laptop to fill out their sound. The resulting tour, playing to sold-out venues across America, proved a resounding success. This experience solidified their new approach and laid the groundwork for their collaborative efforts as Long A.
