Just like Kvelertak, Man The Machetes is a Norwegian band that likes to throw metal, punk, hardcore and rock ‘n roll together and see what they end up with. In the case of “Idiokrati” that would be a mighty fine album!

Take opener “Sluk Det Rått” for example… vocalist Christopher Iversen screams his lungs out in Norwegian and while it’s hard to understand what he’s going on about (mostly because I don’t speak a single word of Norwegian), it’s impossible not to pick up on the sheer intensity with which he delivers his message. Meanwhile the rest of the band is backing him up with fast-paced drums and tons of shredding.

These guys keep up the relentless pace for pretty much the entire album and while there is hardly any diversity to be found, “Idiokrati” is one hell of a party. Kvelertak is going to have to release one seriously good second album because Man The Machetes is ready to take over!

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
