Previously known as one half of JamisonParker, Jamison Covington is back with a new project called E For Explosion. It’s been kinda quiet around the guy for a while, but once he inked a deal with Eyeball Records, he immediately joined Dave Trumfio (Grandaddy, Billy Bragg & Wilco, My Morning Jacket) in the studio and recorded what would become “Reinventing The Heartbeat.

You can still hear some JamisonParker obviously. The music isn’t that much of a stretch from what he used to do. And then there’s of course his breathing singing/whispering which most people either love or hate. But I’m also hearing some The Jesus & Mary Chain in “Antartctica” and a little bit of The Cure in a track like “You Know Who You Are”. At times it all sounds a little too sweet for my taste but when Covington combines the poppy with the lush like in the title track, you notice this guy is really onto something that might not only appeal to his older fans, but could just as well win over some new ones!

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
