Known as the king of the rant, Lewis Black is back for more in ‘Black To The Future’. This show is largely built around the 2016 race to the White House and – logically – already feels a little dated. Especially seeing as how reality has somehow gotten even more batshit crazy than anything any comedian can come up with since Trump got elected. Something that Black is already onto when he declares that ‘I don’t know what my job is anymore’. Because, let’s face it… ‘how do you satirize something that is already satire?’

While his temper slowly reaches boiling temperature, he also delves into other subjects like mental illness and the fact that American spent $647 million last year on Valentine's Day gifts for their pets. Unfortunately there is also an entirely uninteresting bit about a bus ad in Copenhagen that featured boobs. Not nearly as funny as the news story Black found about a lactating German woman who robbed a pharmacy by squirting breast milk at the sales clerks. But now you already know the story and it’s not like Black does anything more with it than read it out loud.

Maybe Black indeed finds himself wondering what the point is anymore now that the idiots have taken over. Or maybe he is just tired of doing the ‘angry guy’ routine. I’m not sure. I just know that ‘Black To The Future’ only barely managed to get a few chuckles out of me.
