The Darién Gap
In Miniature
Release date: November 6, 2026
California indie-punk duo The Darién Gap has announced their new EP, In Miniature, set for release on Friday, November 6th. The upcoming five-track record marks the band’s first new music since their 2023 debut album, Haunted Lots.
Formed in Los Osos, California, by multi-instrumentalist Mike Thompson and songwriter Brian Moss (The Wunder Years, The Ghost, Hanalei, Great Apes), the duo self-recorded the project in their DIY home studio. In Miniature builds on the band’s established sound, featuring lyrical themes focused on personal struggles, cultural disaffection, and contemporary social commentary.
Ahead of the EP, The Darién Gap has released the lead single, “Slow Cooker.” The track dynamically transitions from quiet verses into an intense finale of guitars and percussion, reflecting the central character’s emotional collapse.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Brian Moss shared:
“‘Slow Cooker’ is an exploration of a fractured relationship mirrored by an inhospitable desert landscape and a cultural wasteland. The song features a character that is crippled by the acceptance of hopelessness and failure, aging, self-medication, and avoidance.”
