Vicenza, Italy-based four-piece Hearts Apart have announced their fourth album, Xanax, Dramas & Rock’n’Roll, out November 20th via Epidemic Records. Mixing elements of punk, power-pop, and garage rock, it’s a collection of twelve urgent, hook-filled tracks that explore themes of anxiety, boredom, vulnerability, and the absurdities of everyday life while encouraging listeners to dance, sing, and scream through their feelings.
Lead single “(Not) So Easy” addresses the painful realization that someone you once loved — and maybe still love — has decided to move on without you. Speaking to the brutal feeling of being caught off guard by memories of the past, it acknowledges the discomfort of living with questions that will never be answered and holding back words that cannot be spoken, all with driving guitars and a sing-along chorus that channels acts like Radioactivity and The Marked Men. An apt introduction to Hearts Apart’s energetic new record, “(Not) So Easy” is now streaming.
Since forming in 2018, Hearts Apart have never shied away from tackling challenging emotions: acknowledging feelings of inadequacy and despair without losing sight of their love for all things punk, they’ve created a musical language all their own. Throughout their new album, sadness is wrapped up in explosive melodies and grown-up damage is counterbalanced by the stubborn teenage conviction that three chords and a great chorus might just be enough to save the night.
