Philadelphia’s Ex Friends is Plow United’s bassist Joel Tannenbaum along with fellow Philadelphians (is that even a word?) Audrey Crash, JP Flexner and Jaime Guokas. Together they released a 4-song 7”… well, 5 songs if you go digital… called “No Wonder We Prefer The Dark”.

This is some pretty catchy punkrock but unfortunately Joel’s vocals are a bit too grating at times and even with just a couple of songs, things tend to sound the same towards the end… hey, let’s start with guitars, throw in some drums, cue the gruff vocals and then add Audrey’s vocals in the chorus. It sounds like they had fun in the rehearsal space and while there is certainly something to be said for a sloppier sound, you can always take things too far.
