On the third Transplants album, it seems that the experimentation of previous releases has been largely replaced by a more straight-forward punk-rock sound. While many may argue that this is a good thing (because white wannabe gangstas are lame), it is actually not. Rather than rapping, Tim Armstrong, Travis Barker and Skinhead Rob ended up writing songs that sound like a bunch of Rancid leftovers. “See It To Believe It”, ““All Over Again” and “Any Of Them” are have three things in common: they’re loud, fast and forgettable.

When they do eventually reach back to rapping on “Something’s Different” (you’ll know the song when you hear it because the chorus consists of them repeating ‘something’s different’ about twenty times), that’s when I found out that I truly don’t know which version of Transplants I like the least.

Obviously these guys all have plenty of experience so nothing sounds truly horrible. It’s just that for a punk record made by these guys, it’s kinda weird that “In A Warzone” breezes by without causing as much as a ripple.
