“Year Of The Snake” finds Silver Snakes taking the post-hardcore vibes of their debut and then expanding them into these moody as hell, grunge-drenched tunes that sound pretty damn impressive.

Whether they’re going all out on tunes like the six-minutes-long groove-driven “Smokestack” and “All Your Eye” or channeling their inner singer-songwriter in “Red” or “Lock”, things sound massive, warm and ominous. Or simply listen to closer “In Our Bones”, which takes all the different aspects of the band’s sound and molds it into one epic seven-minute slice of post-hardcore.

Vocalist Alex Estrada recorded the new album himself while Brian McTernan took the mixing duties upon himself. You might remember McTernan as the guy who previously worked with Cave In and you can definitely pick up on some of that band’s space-y rock throughout “Year Of The Snake”. If you like your rock tunes smouldering and atmospheric, there’s no going wrong with this one!
