Here’s an album that already came out a while ago… “Waking Season” is Caspian’s third album and the first post-rock release in quite some time that actually did anything for me. For 57 minutes these guys take you on a trip through desolate landscapes, dark places and uhm, spring. Weird combo, right?

Caspian is great at creating atmosphere and when I say they are always building in their songs… think skyscrapers, not houses. Some of these songs are huge, “Gone In Bloom And Bough” even going on for ten and a half minutes. At times the songs eventually explode into a glorious noisy mess, at other times they seem content to hypnotize and take you along for a ride.

Whatever route they take, fans of Mogwai, Envy and Mono should feel comfortable wherever they end up.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
