Boris might have once been a favorite first name among communists, but it’s also the name of a Japanese rock band who have already cranked out a slew of albums since they started out in the late nineties. Their last album is simply titled “Noise”, which definitely sounds promising. Opener “Melody” however doesn’t sound like noise. At all. It’s more of a pop light version of what should be and I’m not liking it. At all.

From there on they keep on going with the absolutely pointless “Ghost Of Romance”, which comes with some downright cringeworthy vocals. And don’t even get me started on “Taiyo No Baka”, a drum-machine fueled piece of indie pop shit. Every now and then there is a little bit of a sparkle (“Heavy Rain”) but overall this album is more effective than a fire extinguisher when it comes to killing the fire.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
