On album number three, the guys that make up Touche Amore raised the bar yet again. “Is Survived By” is definitely the band’s most heartfelt, honest and mature release to date. And looking at their discography, that’s saying something.

Jeremy Bolm found some more demons to exorcise and has never sounded more open and vulnerable. He literally lays it all out for the listener and doesn’t hold anything back. Meanwhile the rest of the band loses it on their instruments but have also found a way to inject the songs with more melodic elements.

As a result, “Is Survived By” is a cohesive mix that nicely combines elements of indie, hardcore and post-rock where they go all Envy on your ass one second before erupting into another short blast of hardcore the next. The result is a beautiful album where you keep stumbling over new details and that could very well be the album will be survived by Touche Amore.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
