The guys in Single Mothers are no happy campers… they have a lot of pent up aggression and chose “Negative Qualities” as a means to unburden themselves. And for that I’d like to thank them.

Opener “Overdose” gets to start the race and from there on the band does not look back, always charging forward with their foot firmly planted on the gas. Whether vocalist Drew Thomson is raging against people whose ‘life is held together by bookends’ (“Marbles”) or kicking himself in “Ketamine”, this guy is foaming from the mouth constantly with the rest of the band following suit.

This entire album is one big standout and just when you think it can’t possibly get any better, they hurl themselves into “Patricide”. If you like hardcore, you do not want to miss out on “Negative Qualities”. I’ll be seeing these guys live at the Fest in a couple of weeks and am already preparing myself for a massacre!

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
