What to expect when Allister’s Scott Murphy and Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo get together to celebrate their love of all things Japanese? Well, an album called “Scott & Rivers” apparently.

Other than it being sung mostly in Japanese, this one could’ve easily been mistaken for a Weezer leftovers album. Picture ridiculously sugary, poppy songs (the kind that will rot the teeth right out of your mouth) with crunchy guitars and hooks. And just when you think they couldn’t possibly make these songs any poppier, they throw in some keyboards. I have no idea how to type the title of song #6 and I’m too lazy to look it up on Google but this is the kind of song that gives new meaning to the word cheesy.

Sounds bad, right? Well, it’s not. It’s just a helluva lot of fun. You’ll smile throughout all twelve songs and use it as the soundtrack for your summer parties. Parties that come with sushi instead of BBQ.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
