Germany’s Idle Class are a little louder than the Charlie Chaplin movie with the same name. Not that hard really, seeing as how that was a silent film and all. “Of Glass And Paper” is the band’s latest release and even though they swore on their debut that “the drama’s done”, this one starts off with “The Drama Continues”… so much for promises, huh?

Lingering somewhere between bands like Polar Bear Club, The Menzingers and Hot Water Music, these guys churn out eleven classy punkrock songs with plenty of energy and hooks. They stick mostly to the midtempo range, sometimes even slowing things down to a crawl like at the beginning of “Bring In The Harvest”, before launching off in yet another singalong chorus.

If you like gruff melodic punkrock, these guys are worth checking out. They might not be quite up there with their influences just yet, but their second album definitely sees them inching closer.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
