The Hex Dispensers once again crawled out of Austin’s dark underbelly with their third album in hand. Aptly titled “III”, the songs on here sound instantly familiar to anyone who’s heard any of its predecessors. For those of you who are not familiar with the band, imagine The Ramones and Marked Men having a kid with a good sense of humor and a profound love of all things horror.

At first glance the songs might all sound kinda the same, but give “III” a couple more spins and you quickly realize that there are plenty of little things going on to keep things interesting right up until the final notes of “Hypersleep”. All of the tracks on here are as ominous as they are rocking in a Misfits kinda way and if you listen to a song like “I Hope The Sun Explodes Today” once, you’ll be hard-pressed to get it out of your head. Job well done!

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
