Norway’s Dunderbeist is back already with a new album after last year’s “Black Arts & Crooked Tails”. Whereas that album’s sound was a little all over the place, they brought it all together nicely this time around. “Songs Of The Buried” still combines elements from heavy, thrash, death, black and doom metal with some rock lumped in as well, but it feels tighter and more cohesive this time around.

Things sound all nice and crispy as well thanks to Alan Douches (Converge, Mastodon,…) who took care of the mastering. The only downside is that the surprise is wearing off … what I liked about this album’s predecessor was that you never quite knew what to expect. Something I found lacking this time around. “Songs Of The Buried” still is a well-crafted album though and is sure to please the headbangers out there.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
