Get siked, my dear friends, Belgium’s metal(ish) pride had releases a new album! It’s been three long years since the last cd, so “Follow the Deadlights” is a reward for the patient. No, don’t give me that ‘but they released an EP last year!’ bullshit. It contained two songs, so that shit doesn’t count. Nope.

The first notes are important. Diablo Blvd knows that, so they made the intro 1 minute and 14 seconds long. It goes on and on and on… It creates this weird kind of vibe where you want the fucking song to start, but you don’t want the intro to end, because this sounds pretty sweet too. And then, they finally arrive. The vocals. Alex Agnew is quite a good singer. The only thing this man shouldn’t do, is go for the higher notes. Not now. Not ever.

As the songs pass, it becomes clear that the tone is quite dark. But we’re all metal here, we understand. On top of that, the lyrics are thought through. At times, I had no idea what he was talking about. Something about skeletons and lights or something.

A quick tip: never look beyond the veil. Don’t ask why. Just don’t do it. Beyond the veil is where death lies. Dangit.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
