Caravels is – in my humble opinion – right up there with Pianos Become The Teeth, Touche Amore and The Saddest Landscape yet they haven’t quite gotten the same kind of recognition those bands have. Yet. Let’s hope that will change with “Lacuna”, the band’s latest album.

With their trademark swirling guitars, brooding atmosphere and dramatic climaxes, these guys have got it all going on. There’s plenty of melody to be found throughout the entire album but not in an overtly obvious in-your-race, please-sing-along kinda way. They are killer at building up tension before letting it all go in one big cathartic rush. The songs all ebb and flow nicely into one another which gives “Lacuna” a nice organic feel.

If you are into any of the bands I’ve mentioned, do yourself a favor and check these guys out!

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
