London-via-Athens ‘regret punks’ The Burnt Tapes have a new EP out via Lockjaw Records while Umlaut Records will take care of the vinyl release. “Alterations” comes with six songs worth of the gruff punk variety. You know the kind… rumbling basslines, melodic guitars and vocals that sound like the singer sands down his vocal chords like other people floss their teeth.

While things sound pretty tight on tracks like “Alterations”, “Oh Marie” and “Wayne Regretzky” (love that title!), there are a couple of moments where the vocals are just a tad bit too grating. Something that can be easily remedied on future releases.

Fans of bands like the Larry Arms and Dear Landlord might want to give this one a listen.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
